Suzanne Daniel is a versatile musician based in Newport News, Virginia. She is the organist/director at Grace Church, Yorktown, and previously the organist/director at St. John’s, Portsmouth, Virginia and St. Matthew’s, Austin. Additionally, she is a freelance accompanist, and regularly works with students at Christopher Newport University. Suzanne performs on piano and accordion at Busch Gardens, Williamsburg and accompanies local auditions and coaches singers. Other recent collaborations include Dean Shostak and his Crystal Concerts. In 2013, she was an accompanist for the Torggler Summer Vocal Institute, working with Janis Siegel of The Manhattan Transfer. Ms. Daniel has been involved with 30 different musical theater productions as music director, assistant music director, rehearsal pianist, pit musician, or performer.
Ms. Daniel holds a BM, magna cum laude, in Bassoon Performance from East Carolina University, and a MM in Woodwinds Performance from Ithaca College. She is the principal bassoonist with the Virginia Wind Symphony and the Hampton Roads Philharmonic, and former principal bassoonist of the Austin Civic Orchestra. As a flutist, Suzanne can be heard in a monthly Celtic Eucharist at Grace, First Presbyterian, Hampton, and the Taizé service at Christ & St. Luke’s, Norfolk. She was also a regular contributor to the contemplative service at St. James the Less, Ashland.
Suzanne is a member of the Association of Anglican Musicians, Pi Kappa Lambda, music honor society, and Sigma Alpha Iota, women’s music fraternity. In addition to performing, Suzanne enjoys calligraphy, cross-stitching, and traveling.
